I set my Monitor device in OBS Settings to go directly to my headphones device, instead of going to System Audio, and then I go and set all Audio sources I want heard on stream to "Monitor and Output".įrom what I have seen: choosing to use Monitor audio to hear All Stream audio, even the game sounds locally, seems to do pretty well, assuming the PC has a good sound card, and if the setup has no noticeable delay/lag: otherwise it could get very annoying to speak into the mic and then hear what you said a second later. Of course at this point I can no longer hear Discord's output, as its going only into OBS, so I go into OBS and click the gear on an audio source and open Advanced Audio Properties I can change that Discord audio source to Monitor and Output, instead of Output only. I check my browser sources in OBS that handle any stream sounds and make sure the "Control audio via OBS" option is checked, and that means the output goes to an Audio source inside OBS instead of Desktop/System Default audio. That is I configure Discord to send Output its Audio to the IN device, and I add the corresponding Out device as a custom Audio source in OBS. So when stepping away from stream to take a break its an easy two clicks in OBS to temporarily Mute both Microphone and other people talking on Discord. The advantage is one can change the volume or mute Discord audio within OBS, and with a few clicks within OBS one can change Discord Audio to play Only on headphones, Only on Stream, or On Both. I personally use "Virtual Audio Cable" os another virtual audio device that is software I installed that creates Additional pair of separates Audio devices in Windows – an IN and an OUT device That allows me to redirect the audio output (Or input) from any application to the audio input (Or output respectively) of another program, and I use that to re-route Discord's Audio Output directly into OBS using a dedicated Audio Source. There are Multiple 'Right' ways to setup Audio in OBS. Now how I would handle Discord Audio here personally is a bit more complicated, and you certainly don't have to do anything complicated just to get Discord into OBS (It should even come into OBS over Desktop/System Audio by default.). If you do not see this, then check the Settings menu in OBS Studio, open the "Audio" tab and check to make sure "Default" is the Device that has been selected as your Desktop Audio.įor audio input just make sure Discord and OBS are configured to use the same Microphone device.Īt that point you should be technically done. If you are running OBS and Discord on a Windows computer, and output in Discord is going to Desktop System Audio, then check your mixer in OBS as there should be a Desktop Audio source.
